Mission Statement

At the Dr Aladesanmi Foundation, we believe that no one should have to experience the pain of losing a loved one to a preventable road traffic crash. That’s why we’re committed to promoting road safety education, awareness campaigns, and community engagement to reduce the number of crashes in Nigeria.

Vision Statement

As part of our commitment to road safety promotion, we will develop programs that will be focused on education, raising awareness using the following tools:

Dr Adebanji Adeyoju graduated from the college of medicine university of Ibadan in 1988. He went on to undertake post graduate residency training in Surgery in Ireland and the UK. He is currently a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a special interest and expertise in Endo-urology including Laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive surgery for urinary stones and benign prostatic enlargement. He was appointed as Consultant Urological surgeon at Stepping Hill Hospital NHS Foundation trust in 2002 and also runs, with his colleagues, a service at Macclesfield General Hospital, Tameside Hospital and Buxton Cottage Hospital. He plays an active role locally, regionally and nationally in the teaching and training of both undergraduate medical students and post-graduate doctors and surgeons. He also plays an active role as an alumnus of the COM-UI supporting training, education and infrastructure.

Prof Aladesanmi Omobola Agnes was born in about five and a half decades ago. She is a native of Ado Ekiti. She received her University education both from University of Ilorin, Ilorin and Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, where she obtained her PhD degree in Yoruba Literature. She is a Professor in the Dept of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti. She has many published articles to her credit both in national and international journals. She is the widow of Dr Tunde Richard Aladesanmi and blessed with wonderful children and grandchildren.

DR Kenneth Adedeji Adetokunbo ADEGOKE, FRCA, FFICM Fondly called Dr Ken was born at The Hammersmith Hospital , London to Nigerian immigrant parents who travelled to England in the 1960s Ken returned to Nigeria with his parents on the Marchant ship “Ahmadu Bello “ - they spent 14 days at sea , during which Ken witnessed some daily routine ship drills that was later to shape his love for things of the sea . Ken was aged 6 years . Ken’s dad Adedosu Oseni was the first indigenous Nigeria ship’s radio officer . Ken went to Premier Day school on Raufu Williams crescent , surulere , Lagos . He obtained a distinction in his Primary school leaving examination . Ken attended St Gregory’s college Obalende Lagos ( Gregs ) . At Gregs , Ken rubbed shoulders with the likes of Ofege and Ben Bruce - senator and owner of silverbird productions . Ken went to medical school at the eminent University College Hospital , Ibadan . He graduated in 1988. Ken did his internship at Lagos University Teaching Hospital ( LUTH ) , Lagos Nigeria in 1989 spending 3 months each in Medicine ,Surgery , Paediatrics and Obstetrics/ Gynaecology . In 1990 , Ken began his anaesthetics training in the UK, collecting his CCST( certificate of completion of specialist Training ) in 1998 from the Kings college Hospital , London . Ken and Tunde Aladesanmi were medical school Classmates . He was devastated to learn of the sudden and sad loss of Tunde - along with 6 other senior doctors and their driver in that fatal road crash . Ken felt very inspired to do something to help reduce the loss of young lives on Nigerian roads . It was this idea that gave birth to DAF ( Dr Aladesanmi Foundation ) Ken enjoys driving and dreams of the day when it would be possible to travel across the length and breath of the country by road , exploring the diversity and the natural beauty of the country

Professor Oluwadiya Kehinde Sunday is a professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. He is also the immediate past provost of the College of Medicine of the University.Professor Oluwadiya is member of several academic and professional organizations both inside and outside Nigeria. These organizations include the Nigerian Medical Association, the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Orthopaedic Association, the Surgical Research Society of Nigeria, the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM), Road Traffic International Research Network (RTIRN) and the International Co-operation on Theories and Concepts in Traffic Safety (ICTCT). He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.Professor Oluwadiya has been a part of several International collaborations including the CRASH I and II studies as a principal investigator. He is a beneficiary of the first World Health Organization MENTOR-VIP program in Trauma 2007 – 2008 and a collaborator with the SIGN Interlocking Nail project of Seattle WA, USA. Since 2011, he has been a member of the World Health Organization GIEESC Burden of Surgical Disease Committee.Prof Oluwadiya has ninety-two articles and three books in publication. He is also a past co-editor of the Western Nigerian Medical Journal and a reviewer for close to twenty journals around the world.
