About US

The Dr Tunde Aladesanmi Foundation for Road Safety (DTAF) is a nonprofit organisation committed to reducing preventable road traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities across Nigeria. Established in memory of Dr Tunde Aladesanmi—a distinguished surgeon, educator, and humanitarian—the foundation was born out of a tragic road crash on April 24, 2016, which claimed his life alongside those of six other doctors and their driver. This devastating loss underscored a painful reality: far too many lives are lost daily on Nigerian roads to incidents that could have been prevented.

DTAF exists to ensure that such losses are not in vain. We work to transform grief into action by promoting safer road use through public education, advocacy, research-informed interventions, and strategic partnerships. Our focus is on influencing behaviour, strengthening systems, and supporting policies that make roads safer for all users—drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and passengers alike.

We collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), government institutions, civil society organisations, professional bodies, and local communities. Through these partnerships, we support initiatives that enhance road safety awareness, traffic law enforcement, speed management, emergency response capacity, and post-crash care.

At DTAF, we believe that road safety is not about blame—it is about prevention, responsibility, and systems that save lives. Every campaign we run, every partnership we build, and every voice we amplify is guided by one urgent mission: to ensure that fewer families receive the devastating knock on the door.

Together, we can create a culture where safety is valued, lives are protected, and every journey ends safely.
